Raymond’s Medal

Category
Novel

Raymond begins a new job as the General Assistant at a small rural campus. He’s attracted to the Receptionist, the lover of the campus Director.

Victim or victor? Raymond and the Receptionist are married. They have a son. As the campus slowly grows, the cautious General Assistant learns how to endure.

His predecessor, Thomas, doesn’t believe the university has a future in the town. Crooke, the incompetent Construction Supervisor, does his best to undermine it. Local businessmen at Harbinson’s Office Equipment and Crank’s Car Care offer their support.

His wife leaves home. Raymond digs in as a single parent, confronting his own limitations and those of the town and campus. Can life offer anything after a damaged Receptionist?

Or is a twenty year service medal sufficient reward?
